Currently, there are two big companies in the DTH Market. These two are Tata Sky and Dish TV.

Vikram Kaushik,CEO & MD, Tata Sky said:

The south of India accounts for 40% of the pay-TV market in India, but we have also sold in other parts of the country where people are price conscious and want regional content and we have been very successful in those markets.

Here are a couple of important DTH facts:
1. There are going to be 15 million subscribers by the year 2011
2. The market is going to grow from $ 1.5 to 3.5 billion.

According to another news on Economic Times, Tata Sky hinted at reducing the prices.

Vikram Kaushik, CEO & MD,Tata Sky said:

Ours is the best service at the price we are quoting but we cannot rule out anything. Globally, whenever set-top-box services were offered at a throwaway price or free, consumers took them but later opted out, like for instance in Brazil.

They were confident of capturing a huge market share in India, where the growth rate is going to be of around 700% in the near future and 90% of India will be using the Direct to Home services.
